BITOSSI

The Bitossi family has a documented history dating back to the 14th century in an area just a few kilometers outside of Florence. Throughout the centuries, members of the family have worked as kilnsmen, sculptors, painters, and, most notably, ceramicists. Their contributions to the ceramic arts industry have been impactful, particularly during the early decades of the 20th century, when they introduced unique and innovative stylistic and formal techniques. Their production is linked to tradition and classical styles of the past, with meticulous attention to refinement and design. The direction of the factory shifted towards a modern perspective from the early 1950s, under the artistic direction of Aldo Londi, a man of innate creativity and aesthetic sense. Over the years, many designers have contributed to Bitossi’s production, creating new collections. Particularly notable is the architect Ettore Sottsass, who established a long-lasting partnership with Bitossi in 1955. The company represents Italian excellence, made in Italy, where each ceramic is meticulously handcrafted with care by the brand's skilled artisans who passionately oversee every stage of production, up to and including quality control.
